The Origin of Mary Jane and Peter Parker's Relationship

This is about Spider-Man's one true love. Not Gwen Stacy, not Aunt May's wheatcakes, It's about Mary Jane Watson. I've been around many people who believe Gwen to be Peter's one true love, but she was taken from him too soon. After that, Mary Jane stepped in as, for all intents and purposes, the runner-up, the next best option. But that's not true. At least it wasn't at the time those old Spider-Man stories were being written.Gwen Stacy was killed off specifically because nobody liked her. And fans argued that she was standing in the way of Peter and MJ's relationship. When Mary Jane Watson was introduced into the Marvel Universe, Peter and Gwen were not even an item. Just...

The 3 Kinds of Superhero ORIGIN STORIES!

Desperate parents send their child away from a dying world, raised by humble American farmers, the boy grows up to be a symbol of truth and justice. A mugger shoots and kills two wealthy industrialists in a dark alley, in front of their son. He dedicates his life to stopping the criminals who prey on the innocent. Why BATMAN Barely Uses Guns?

Batman is always going on and on about his one rule, which can be confusing since he has a couple of rules. Don't kill, don't use guns, make sure to wear a different colored costume every night. Though, as is the way with comics, which rules apply depends entirely on the ever-shifting continuity. Movies have shown him strapping large guns to his fleet of bat-themed vehicles or even just blatantly shooting people, but at least he's more consistent in the comics, right? Just a man in a bat costume fighting crime as peacefully as possible. Unless, you consider the Golden Age comics, which were being written as the character of Batman was still developing. The Dark Knight didn't initially have any...

The REAL Origin of the BAT-SIGNAL!

The Bat-Signal is a crucial part of Batman’s lore. It first premiered in Detective Comics number 60 from 1942, described as a cone of light piercing the dusk of day and etching an eerie symbol against a black cloud, the silhouette of a giant bat. The Bat-Signal was quickly adopted as a staple for Batman stories, evenmaking significant appearances across movies, TV shows, and video games. Traditionally, we might think of it as a paging system. A way for Commissioner Gordon or anyone else at the GCPD to get ahold of Batman. When it lights up, Bruce Wayne springs into action. But it represents more than that. In Batman and the Mad Monk, the Caped Crusader gave Gordon a literal...

Are Comic Book Superhero Movies TOO VIOLENT?

We all know, the Logan movie takes heavy inspiration from the Old Man Logan comic book storyline where Wolverine, for the most part, has his claws put away, he put his violent past behind him. But this movie feels like almost the exact opposite. He whips out his claws from the very beginning and starts slashing at people's throats. It is bloody, it is gory, it is brutal, but the movie doesn't treat violence like it's a fun thing that all the characters are engaged in, even when Wolverine is victorious in combat. The characters aren't throwing up quips or having heartfelt moments of realizations with their teammates during combat, they simply fight because they have to. Most of the violence...
